Chiron Meaning Explained

What is Chiron In Astrology?

Chiron is an asteroid that orbits our solar system between the orbits of Uranus and Saturn. It was discovered in 1977 by astrologers, and was given its name based on its Greek mythological meaning.

Chiron as a mythological archetype is a centaur. He is half animal, half human and was also a god. His bottom half of his body represents his earthliness and instinctual nature. His top half represents his connection to the higher realms.

What Does Chiron The Wounded Healer Mean?

Chiron is called the Wounded Healer because early in his life he was abandoned by his mother because of how he looked. Chiron spent his whole life trying to heal this wound. He never managed to fully heal his own wound, but because of his quest to find new ways of healing, he learned everything there is to know about healing. This knowledge became his gift and he used it throughout his life to help other people heal from their wounds.

Chiron in your birth chart shows your own most profound wound in life. By trying to heal your own wound, you will learn to understand yourself (and therefore others) on a deeper level. You can then use this experience to help others heal from a similar wound as yours.

Chiron is associated with the sign of Virgo. He was a perfectionist and could easily get lost in the details. Chiron shows us that even when there is a flaw that is holding you back (because of the need for being perfect), you can take action now and don’t need to be perfect before you can contribute something.

Why Is Chiron Important?

Chiron is important because our Chiron wounds can be the key to unlocking our full potential in life. Our Chiron wounds are always based on the fear of rejection. As humans, our biggest need is the need for connection, without exceptions. When we have been wounded in life, this can leave a large scar and defense mechanisms are being build to protect ourselves from the hurt happening again. By finding your Chiron placement, you will find out in which area your biggest wound is placed. This can be your mirror and opportunity to unlock your full potential in life.

How To Find Your Chiron Placement

How Do You Know Where Your Chiron Is?

To know where your Chiron is, you need to find its placement in your birth chart. In your birth chart, you will find Chiron in one of the Zodiac signs and in one of the 12 houses.

Where Is Chiron In Your Birth Chart?

Your Chiron Meaning

Chiron in Aries or the 1st House

Chiron in Aries or the 1st house is all about the sense of self. If you have this Chiron placement, you need to heal your wounded attitude towards life. You can have a strong feeling that you are different than others, that you do not fit in or are misunderstood by others. This can result in you holding yourself back and not showing the full you as you feel that it will not translate well into the world.

Possibly something happened in your childhood that caused you to feel this way. This can be neglect by your caretakers or a lack of attention. Maybe you were bullied as a child, or felt like an outcast in some sort of way. This can have resulted in a lack of self-love or low self-esteem, and made you feel unworthy.

Healing: to heal this wound you need to realize the pattern, and find out what caused it. You need to end the believe that you should not fully be yourself. Let go of any shame. Take pride in your appearance. Embrace the strengths that you were given and become your authentic self (even if this means you will dissappoint people). Realize that you don’t need to look outside yourself to be happy. After you heal this wound, you will be free and able to help others to become their authentic selves.

Chiron in Taurus or the 2nd House

Chiron in Taurus or in the 2nd house is all about material resources and possessions. The wound has to do with a fear that your resources can be taken away from you at any time. This fear can cause you to be overly cautious when it comes to your possessions, which keeps you trapped from truly feeling free.

The focus on possessions seems to keep you safe, but the when overdone, the possessions can never be enjoyed. On the contrary, this can also manifest in completely giving up on all your possessions all together. In both cases, there is a negative association to the material here.

In childhood you either had to deal with a lack or shortage of resources, or there was a big focus on displaying wealth to others. You think you want what society thinks you need as you fear to stand out and be different. This hold on the material can also manifest in relationships by being overly possessive.

Healing: To heal this wound you need to recognize in which pattern this manifests in your life. Learn to be ok with who you are, regardless of your possessions. Find your own inner security and self-worth through other means such as spiritual discovery. Explore your creative gifts. Once you heal this wound, you can help others with their finances and teach them how to be ok with who they are.

Chiron in Gemini or the 3rd House

Chiron in Gemini or the 3rd house is all about communication. The wound has to do with self-expression. There is a feeling of being misunderstood or unheard, and you experience that what you communicate is not being perceived well.

This can lead to you holding yourself back and not fully expressing yourself. It can lead to a blockage in the throat chakra and is holding you back from living your purpose. As a child, there could have been an event that led you to somehow not feeling free to express yourself. This can be in the home situation or in school.

Healing: to heal your wound you need to understand why sometimes you are being misunderstood, so that you can relate to others more easily. For both Virgo and Gemini, the miscommunication is often related to wanting to speak the truth, while other people are more focused on not getting their feelings hurt. Above all, don’t take it personal if someone doesn’t understand you. You need to release the need for others to accept or understand what you say. Once you can let this go, you can be free. Your uniqueness is your strength, as long as you learn not to offend others by your drive to speak the truth.

Chiron in Cancer or the 4th House

Chiron in Cancer or the 4th house is all about emotional security. There is a strong sense of feeling unsupported in life by other people. This can result in you keeping connections at a distance and judging others for not being helpful or supporting enough, as you are projecting your own need for support on others.

Possibly this results in not understanding the other person’s sense of what their boundaries are, and you can come across as too needy in a relationship or friendship. This can also manifest in being too supportive to others, maybe even giving them support that they don’t want. By doing this, you are crossing your own boundaries, which can lead to burn-out or other challenges in the relationship. This can also result in you suppressing your feelings as you feel nobody cares about you. You might make it seem as if you don’t care, but deep down you feel very hurt.

Healing: To heal this wound you need to learn to recognize and admitting to these feelings and understand how you express them in your life. When you come to peace with this, you can truly be there for others, show them support and hold space for their feelings. Because you understand what it feels like to lack support from others, you can be there for other that feel the same way. Get comfortable showing your vulnerability and your emotions, and you will find freedom and balance in your life.

Chiron in Leo or the 5th House

Chiron in Leo or the 5th house is related to self-expression. There is a feeling of not being allowed and accepted, or to be your natural self. In your life this can manifest in an (external) cause that blocks you from being able to express your true self in life. There is a strong desire to create, but for some reason you (need to or feel like you need to) hide that creation.

You may believe that you cannot have success with your creations, which can cause you to (unconsciously) sabotage yourself. For example, by never getting good enough at your craft so what you want, can never succeed in the first place. For example, instead of being a writer, you teach writing to others but never complete your own book. This feeling of not being allowed to enjoy life can even result in addiction in some cases.

Healing: To heal this wound you need to realize where you are blocking yourself. What are the believes that are holding you back? You need to work on self-love and acceptance, and start expressing who you really are. That is your birth right, no need to feel guilty about it. Allow yourself to shine as Leo should, like fire and the sun.

Chiron in Virgo or the 6th House

Chiron is Virgo or the 6th house is all about physical health and work. The wound here is related to being too rigid with your schedule and not knowing how to balance your health and work in your life. An imbalance in this area can result in you feeling stressed and it can affect your relationships as you can be too critical of others.

You can also take on too much work, and risk overworking yourself if not taking enough time to unwind. This can also manifest in issues with diet and exercise, or even an eating disorder. Your unhealed emotional issues will quickly manifest in the body.

Healing: to heal this wound you need to find a way to function properly and deal with the chaos of life, you need to have a healthy and productive daily routing. Realize how this manifests in your life. Don’t be too critical of yourself. Nobody is perfect! (and you don’t have to be) Also, service to others and to animals to heal their health issues can be very healing for you.

Chiron in Libra or the 7th House

Chiron in Libra or the 7th house is related to relationships, partnerships and your relation to others. You are wounded in love and it can be hard for you to find your ideal partner, or have an issue with relationships with other people in general. You may struggle with the idea of being in a commited relationship and actually prefer to be by yourself.

This can manifest in troubles with commitment, or in you unconsciously ending up with partners that cheat on you and are not willing to commit. This self-sabotage can leave you feeling isolated, or give you a feeling of not getting along with others. Possibly your parents related to each other in a negative way (because of their own pain) and you have a wounded attitude towards love because of this.

Healing: to heal this wound you need to first recognize it and understand how this manifests in your life, and how you are contributing to the outcome. Learn to be more authentic and honest about your feelings, also in a relationship. You don’t need to pretend to be different than you actually are, as this will only lead to misunderstandings later on in the relationship. Learn to appreciate being by yourself, express your creativity. You can also heal through your relationships by learning from the other, but you need to really want it yourself.

Chiron in Scorpio or the 8th House

Chiron in Scorpio or the 8th house is related to trust. The wound is a sense of mistrust. You can feel as if the other person does not trust you, and in return feel that you cannot trust that person either.

Because you have a very strong sense of knowing the underlying truth, you can easily feel when something is not real. The issue is that you tend to take this personal, even though the other person may just not be comfortable sharing something (which has more to do with the other person than with you).

Because of your strong desire for profound and deep connections with others, you cannot bare it when someone does not want to share their deepest truths. This can get in the way of your relationships. It can create unnecessary drama, anger and ruthlessness.

Healing: If you want to heal this wound, you need to realize that your own believes of mistrust are holding you back in your relationship to others. Find out what has hurt you in the past that causes you to feel this way, and start to notice the patterns in your own behavior. Also accept that others have their own believes and issues which can cause them not to be comfortable sharing certain things with you or with other. Do not take this personal. Even if someone doesn’t trust you, that’s ok. The profound relationships with others will come to you when you let go and trust that things will work out for the best.

Chiron in Sagittarius or the 9th House

Chiron in Sagittarius or the 9th house is all about optimism and faith in life. With this Chiron placement, there is a wound related to this area. You have a feeling that you want more out of life, but strongly feel you cannot have it for some reason.

This limiting belief is keeping you small and blocks you from reaching your full potential. This can manifest in you staying too safely in your comfort zone, or doing the opposite and changing to much and not sticking with anything. You either feel as if you are not good enough or you portray to feel better than others, which can result in a smug attitude.

Healing: To heal this wound you need to realize that you are not in touch with your intuition and you are not trusting the natural process in life. By listening to your intuition and following what it tells you, you can do anything you most desire. You just need to listen and trust that it is always right. Realize how your fear of growth manifests in your life and take steps to break away from that fear. In case you are constantly changing, then focus on living in the moment more, and learn where your limits are. You can use what you learned to help others to realize their full potential.

Chiron in Capricorn or the 10th House

Chiron in Capricorn or the 10th house is related to hard work, amibition and motivation. You feel as if you need to be respected by others for the hard work you´re doing, and your biggest fear is that other people don´t see you as capable. This is a wound that needs to be healed because there will always be someone that will not respect you despite all the success that you are having.

By wanting to chase this validation from others, you can push it too far and overwork yourself and beat yourself up when you don´t come out the best at something. Your achievements are not about you following your life´s purpose, but are about getting validation and respect from others.

Healing: To heal this wound you need to realize that validation and respect for yourself needs to come from you first. Celebrate your achievement and be proud of the work you have done. If you don’t learn to do this, you will never feel satisfied. With your work ethic and stamina, you have a gift to inspire others and help them to build confidence to work on their goals. Once you heal this wound within yourself, you can achieve anything you want and enjoy it too.

Chiron in Aquarius or the 11th House

Chiron in Aquarius or the 11th house is related to a feeling of not fitting in. Because you have experienced a sense of not belonging, or not fitting in since childhood, you are very aware of how you are different from others.

This can cause you to set yourself apart even more, even when others are trying to include you, and can cause you to be very sensitive to criticism. This believe can manifest in your life by hiding your uniqueness and becoming a loner, or on the opposite, causing you to act with a sense of superiority and behaving like a social butterfly.

Healing: To heal this wound you need to learn to appreciate your own uniqueness and use them to your benefit. Realize that your own limiting believes can get in the way of you not feeling included in certain situations, and do not unnecessarily alienate yourself from others. The things that make you different are the things that others will like about you the most. This is your gift to others as you can inspire them to be themselves and make them feel that they are good the way they are. Volunteer work to help others can also help you heal.

Chiron in Pisces or the 12th House

Chiron in Pisces or the 12th house is all about spirituality and faith in the universe. The wound here is related to having a negative view of life and feeling as if the universe is not on your side. You experience a lack of trust, both in situations and in other people. You feel as if things never work out in your favor.

You are very sensitive and your strong emotional needs can have led to you be fooled by someone in the past. This may have left you feeling powerless and not understanding why other people act the way they do sometimes. By harboring a negative belief system you will attract more negativity towards you.

Healing: To heal this wound you need to learn to keep a positive mindset and not let the energy of others absorb you too much. When you radiate positivity, you will attract it in your life. Your sensitivity is your strength as long as you learn to protect yourself and create a shield around yourself to preserve your own energies. Realize that others can have boundaries that you may not understand, and learn to respect them. If you can learn to trust your intuition and restore your faith in life, you can rescue others in the same way as you rescued yourself. Work on your spiritual practise and connect to your higher self.
