We live in a time of information overload where it is impossible for anyone’s brain to take it all in. For that reason, developing your intuition (and learning to rely on it) is now more important than ever.
Although in modern day society we are taught to listen to our rational mind, rather than our intuition, we need to realize that, despite common belief, our intuition is our most valuable asset. It is your actual superpower!
The good news is that you can develop your intuition, and learn to use and trust it. I will share 15 fun ways on how you can do that. You will notice that, the more often you realize that your intuition is right, the more you will be able to rely on it!
What Is Intuition?
Intuition is your inner knowing. It is that voice that comes from within, that tells you exactly how it is, without there being a clear cause or reason for that. It is basically your subconscious talking to you.
Your intuition is your built in compass that you always guide you in the right direction, wherever you are. As long as you are willing to listen..!
Your intuition speaks the loudest when your mind is quiet. Therefore, quieting the mind is the first step to developing your connection with your intuition.
Why You Want To Develop Your Intuition
Unfortunately, modern day society teaches us to rely on our rational minds, rather than on our intuition. Forgetting that, as human beings, we are more than just our minds..
Ignoring our intuition does not do justice to who we are as people. Your intuition is most of the time the only real valuable voice to listen to, as it speaks to you from your natural state of being.
Your mind (the ego) does a great job protecting you from danger, but it also tends to keep you stuck in the place you already know. Sometimes it is necessary to take a risk or follow your dream, and only your intuition will tell you to do that..
“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”
– Albert Einstein
15 Ways To Develop Your Intuition
Here are 15 ways to develop your intuition that you can begin with at any time! ✨
1. Meditate
Meditation is one of the best ways to connect with your intuition and to develop it further. By learning to quiet your mind, your inner voice will become louder.
Your inner voice is always there, but you can’t hear it when your mind keeps chattering. When you learn to tune in to your body and quiet your mind, you will find that you have all the answers that you’ll ever need already with you!
Your inner knowing is your innate compass that can guide you through your life effortlessly, as long as you learn to trust it! 🧭
It is no wonder that great ideas come up during a meditation, or seem to appear just out of nowhere when you are on a walk..

2. Tune Into Your Gut Feeling
Before making a decision about something, pause for a moment, and become aware of what your intuition is trying to tell you. Tune in to your body. How does your body feel? Any signs of stress? What is really causing this feeling?
Often we over-rationalize (and make a list of) the pros and cons before taking a decision, but we forget to take a few deep breaths and tune in to what our gut is telling us to do.
Once you become aware of this, you can now decide whether you take this into account in your decision or not. A good balance between our intuition and our rational mind is vital for good decision making, but often we discard our inner voice too quickly.
3. Feel Your Body
Take a few deep breaths, become aware of your body and how it feels at this moment.
We process and store our emotions in our body, including the emotions that we are not consciously aware of. Therefore, by tuning into how your body feels, you can often find many of the answers that you need.
Your body will tell you exactly what you need to do in this moment. Feeling stressed? Then calm down, do a meditation, go for a walk, nourish your body and give it some love.
Worrying about the future continuously will not help you, it will only damage your health. Returning to the present moment can help you see more clearly and put things in perspective.
4. Intuitive Writing Exercise

Try this intuitive writing exercise. This is a great way to switch off your mind, and let your intuition flow.
- Sit somewhere comfortably. You can write on a laptop or on paper.
- Ground yourself by putting your feet flat on the ground, closing your eyes and taking a few deep breaths.
- Set a timer to 10 minutes
- Start to write your answer to the question “How are you feeling right now?”. Keep writing. Even if you are not sure what to write, then write that.
- Repeat this exercise every day for a week and read back what your wrote 🙂
- You can change the question for a different one each time. For example: “When I think of my childhood, I think of..” or “If I could do anything I wanted, I would..”
5. Journaling
Keep a journal. Reflect on how you interact with your intuition, what it is trying to tell you, and how you have listened to it?
Write down a situation. What did you decide to do? Was this decision guided by your intuition? How did it turn out? Did you feel that you did the right thing?
By regularly doing this, you become more conscious of your intuition and how you are interacting with it. After time, you will naturally start to rely on it more..!
6. Spend Time In Nature
Spending time in nature is great to relax and to (naturally) quiet down the mind.
Either go for a mindful walk, or choose a sitspot and spend some time there.
It keeps amazing me how nature has a natural way of calming us down and bringing us back to our natural state of being. I believe that reconnecting with nature is the answer to our most fundamental problems.. 🍃
7. Do Reiki
Reiki is a energy healing method that works by transfering energy through hand postures. It relaxes the nervous system and supports the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
By practicing Reiki, you will develop your intuition. It helps you to relax your body and will therefore naturally help you to quiet your mind. The more you practice Reiki, the more you will increase your sensitivity to the energy around you.

8. Intuitive Card Reading
Sit comfortably, relax, take a few deep breaths. Pull an Oracle or Tarot card and intuitively interpret its meaning.
What is your initial feeling with what the card is showing? What does the imagery tell you? What message are you getting from it?
Doing this is a great way to develop your intuition. We tend to quickly think what an image or a card would mean based on what we know. Although, it is great to combine that knowledge to do a full interpretation, also make sure to practice the intuitive side. This can often tell you much more than solely relying on your knowledge!
9. Lucid Dreaming
Dreaming is another way we can connect with our subconscious. Lucid dreaming means being conscious while you are dreaming. That way you are in a dream, constructed by your subconscious mind, while you are fully aware that you are dreaming (and you can decide what you do in that dream!).
You can learn to do this, and it is a fun way to learn more about yourself and explore your mind..! Check out my Beginner’s Guide To Lucid Dreaming to learn more.
10. Become Aware Of Your Triggers
This is also a great journaling exercise. Revaluate what triggered you today. What is the real cause of the trigger when you dig a little deeper?
Often our initial triggers point to a deeper problem or believe that we have. By consciously trying to understand them, and becoming aware of them, we get better at understanding ourselves and get closer to hearing (and understanding!) our inner voice.
11. Express Your Creativity Without Expectations

Get creative. Pick any outlet that you like: paint, draw, write, sing, dance, anything goes. Take a few moments to center yourself and relax, and then just begin. No expectations.
You will be surprised what will come out. Don’t judge what you create, just let it be what it is. It is all about the moment of experiencing a flow and letting our whatever you feel like doing in that moment. The end result is irrelevant.
12. Share How You Really Feel
Sometimes we feel as if we should not share how we really feel in a certain situation. Now, there are of course situations where, for whatever reason, that may indeed not be a good idea, but there is also the opposite.
Sometimes we tend to say the socially accepted thing because we know that is what people want to hear, and it is the easy thing to do. But it is important to also become confident with saying what you really feel, despite the consequences.
Express yourself in a sincere, authentic and respectful way, and feel how liberating that can be. Even if others may disagree, that is fine!
13. Shadow Work
Shadow work means to consciously work with your subconscious mind to become aware of behaviors and past traumas so you can heal yourself and your life.
In order to do this, you need to connect with your inner knowing, and by doing so you will develop the connection you have with your intuition.

14. Do More Of The Things You Love
Do more of the things that your love. Even if you don´t have a lot of time, set some time aside for the things that make you happy.
If you are not sure what those things are, usually a good start is to think of what you loved to do when you were a child. This can point you in the right direction as we often stop doing some of those things when we get older! 🎨
15. Become Aware Of Energies
Intuitively we can often feel if an energy in a certain room, or around a certain person, feels good or bad to us. Try to tune into this more consciously, you might be more sensitive to this than you may think!
